These century management people are notorious. They find all kinds of ways to not return your security deposit. I have asthma and so I am extremely conscious of cleanliness. For example, I personally got my carpet professionally cleaned just two weeks before I moved out (and the carpet was new, in top condition), and my apartment was in a condition better that what it was when I had moved in. I spent two days just cleaning my apartment just before I moved out. Yet, they ate up my security deposit, by deducting $$ for carpet cleaning, general cleaning, replacement of old parts that they should have replaced anyway on their own, etc. I have heard similar stories from others. I understand that they are especially notorious with international students in such matters, because international students don’t/cannot fight back against their unfair behaviors. And the property managers are impolite and unprofessional (eg., the guy named Jim Franke). My experiences with other management offices have been far better (professional, and always gave 100% of my security deposit back).
